Pukka Pads & Environment

Pukka Pads realise that as a modern and progressive group of companies we have a responsibility to be aware of our impact on the environment and a duty to do everything in our means to lessen that impact. We want you to enjoy your Pukka Pad or Pukka Product with the knowledge that we are doing our part. To ensure we live up to our long term environmental values Pukka Pads has made a commitment to:

• Use paper and materials from well managed and accredited sources & suppliers only
• Undertake the manufacturing and shipping of our products in a responsible manner
• Produce recyclable pads and products only, wherever possible
• Recycle our office and warehouse waste and to encourage a healthy working environment
• Always look for ways to improve and secure the future of the paper industry

Sources & Suppliers

All of the paper we use for our products originates from sustainable sources. The planting of new trees is important to us; it is a crucial part of eliminating our impact on the environment as well as helping to secure the supply of paper for future generations.

Manufacturing & Shipping

All of the paper mills we use are ISO9002 and ISO14001 accredited. We also work closely with various recycling companies which allows us to offer recycled paper to all of our customers.

In addition to this, both the Pukka Pads production plant in Shanghai and 'Cardinal Brands', one of our UK printing and production sites, are now fully FSC certified.  FSC is an independent, not for profit, non-government organisation established to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world's forests.  Our goal for 2013 is to see all of our printing and production sites world-wide achieve the same fully certified status.

As a global business the transport of our products is kept to an absolute minimum, we manage our shipping in such a way that allows us to distribute products all over the world but which does not see any unnecessary movement of stock.

Pads & Products

All of the pads we produce are fully recyclable, with the slight exception of our wire bound products which are 98% recyclable. To increase the options available to our customers Pukka Pads also offer a recycled range of pads and notebooks. We are very proud of this responsible approach and are aware that as consumers of our products; you would not expect anything less.

 

Recycling & Work Environments

We realise that we need to carry our environmental values through to all aspects of our business. We recycle all of our office and warehouse waste where possible, including many specialist items such as used inks and printing plates. We fully support the recycling industry and are happy to see the market for recycling waste growing annually.

Looking Forwards

We strive to be fully informed of the latest developments and standards in paper production and promise to implement them into our business where possible.

This year we have started to replace all of our National Account Manager's company vehicles with fully hybrid cars. This is an example of what Pukka Pads is doing to help eliminate our impact on the environment and of how businesses like ours really can make a difference.
